Wedding Crafts: Origami Butterflies

Continuing with the theme of travel and exploration, we liked the idea of butterfiels being somewhere present at our wedding. We found a great way of making origami butterflies and bargain shops like Action have a great selection of origami paper in lots of pretty colours and patterns.

The entrance to our reception room had the train tickets laid out for the guests to use as a personalised seating plan (see train tickets post) plus cork boards with internet stock images of the places they were travelling to like a scrap/mood board. Above this was the butterfly cage. The cage is actually a lamp shade, I think it must be made to adding your own crafts too because alone it's rather large and boring. We got some trailing faux plants, fairl lights and with fishing wire secured all of this in to place along to bars of the cage. The butterflies were more difficult to attach, we still used fishing wore but we had to stitch into the back of the butterfly and wrap then on to the cage. For the center of the cage we let some butterflies dangle, and with the fishing wire it looked (hopefully) like they were in flight.
